Efficiency
As this is an 80-Plus Platinum rated power supply, the Thermaltake Toughpower PF1 clearly has some pretty substantial efficiency performance levels to meet. So, how did it do? Well, the short version is, amazingly well.
Offering an all-load average of around 94%, this is an exceptionally strong level of performance. It’s so good that, at times, it almost borders on ‘Titanium’. The absolute pinnacle of PSU performance (just in case you didn’t know).
So, is this Platinum? Yes, and, in fact, it actually tested well beyond the required remit which, for you humble consumers, can only be excellent news!
PFC (Power Factor Correction)
At lower power outputs, it’s hard to deny that the PFC rating does start a little on the low side. By and large, however, this isn’t particularly uncommon and, like most power supplies, it’s happiest when asked to work harder.
As you can see in the chart below, the initially low scoring quickly ramps up and at 100% load, the PFC rating is excellent!
Voltage Regulation
Voltage regulation generally tends to boil down to two key factors. Consistency and low levels of deviancy. So, how did the Thermaltake Toughpower PF1 perform? Well, as you can see below, many of the test results were amazingly impressive and, based on this, the deviancy percentage is remarkably tight.
Put simply, whether you need 3 volts, 5, or 12, this puts across the right amount of power no matter how many watts its drawing!
