Thermaltake Toughpower Grand Series RGB 650w PSU Review

Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

This particularly model of the Thermaltake Toughpower Grand Series RGB power supply has a rated output at 650w. Despite this though, during our overpower testing this was able to achieve the high-impressive figure of 899w before the protections kicked in to shut it down. Given that this is nearly 40% over the rated figure it speaks well of this power supply.

If you did ever happen to push this power supply a little beyond its limits, you will not find it wanting in the slightest. Based on this testing, we would suggest that a 750w output could be achieved without any notable issues. Albeit, perhaps it would be best to turn off the ‘hybrid’ cooling mode and just let the stock fan levels take care of it for you.
