Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 550W Power Supply Review

Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Although practically every power supply has the potential to provide more wattages than that listed on the box, it was always a matter of curiosity as to how much could be squeezed out of the Thermaltake ToughPower SFX. This is, after all, a small form factor design. Despite this, it was still able to successfully go up to 679 watts before the OPP successfully kicked into place.

Given that this is nearly 20% above the rated about, although we never recommend pushing power supplies harder than their rated amount, there is certainly a solid amount of wiggle room here. Better still though, if you do go too far, the protections are there in place to ensure you don’t cause your components any harm!
