A Closer Look

Even without the RGB powered on, the latest iteration of the Toughram looks pretty amazing. There’s a matte black on the right, a diamond pattern gun-metal finish on the left, and a chrome section in the middle, a pretty muted set of colours that should accentuate the RGB but also allow the memory to blend in well with most system themes.

In the top right corner, there’s a logo and branding printed in white.

As you can see, the spine is split into four sections, two large parts, and a small triangle in the middle on each side.

There are sixteen ARGB lights built into the spine of the memory, so you’ll have plenty of options for creating lighting effects, and of course, a full range of RGB colours to pick from.

Around the back, it’s a very clean-looking design, with just the usual serial number sticker on the lower half.

The memory looks amazing and uses a cool X-shaped heatsink that crosses over in the middle, so the front right is the same piece of metal on the back left and visa-versa.

With a black PCB with gold connectors and a thick aluminium heat spreader, the modules look gorgeous.

Stripping the memory wasn’t easy, especially given the X-shaped crossover design of the heat spreader. However, it’s good to see that there’s both strong adhesive tape and thick thermal pads used in all the right places.

The DDR5 memory comes with a built-in Power Management IC (PMIC), allowing the memory to manage its operating voltage, which can be dropped as low as 1.1v.

There are eight SK Hynix H5CG48AGBD modules, which are pre-screened to allow for the massive speeds of 7200 MT/s on the XMP 3.0 profile.

There are sixteen RGB lights on the PCB too, with eight on either side to ensure a nice and even lighting effect.
