The first thing that strikes you when you remove the Thermaltake UX100 out of the box is that it is an exceptionally low-profile cooler. In fact, when compared to your standard ‘stock’ coolers (out of the box with a processor) this is only slightly larger than the usual Intel model while perhaps a little smaller than the AMD equivalent.
Despite the small size, there is (of course) plenty of room for aesthetics. We’re not, incidentally, just talking about the ARGB lighting here either. You’ll find the Thermaltake logo to the centre of the fan and, in addition, also ‘cut’ into the side. This design looks great and when the lights are turned on, even better!
Standing less than 2″ in height, the cooler is designed to sit directly on the CPU with the fan facing outwards. As above, it’s essentially very similar to a stock cooler design. But, of course, with a lot more bells and whistles!
The underside of the cooler reveals the radiator fins which are set in a circular pattern. As you can see below, there is a lot of them, but the gaps to each are absolutely perfect to provide the optimum ‘spread’ of the heat while allowing for good airflow.
Overall, despite its small stature, it’s a surprisingly solid and detailed design. There’s a lot of little aesthetic touches that were not necessary but really add to the overall quality of the product.
The contact plate is a little on the small side when compared to a more standard (and overall larger) air cooler, but should still provide excellent coverage for both Intel and AMD processors. With, of course, the exception of HEDT products.
The fan has that white ring to the edge where a lot of the ARGB goodness occurs. You do, however, also have this light patternation to the fins that looks pretty nice even when the lights are off. It does, of course, also add another level of aesthetics when it’s running.
So far, we really like the design of this cooler. Despite its somewhat small stature it has clearly been very well designed with a lot of details that you wouldn’t expect to see from a product at this price point. Thermaltake has spared very little expensive to give you one of the best looking coolers possible for a price that must have profits as razor-thin as the radiator vents.
