Thermaltake UX200 Air CPU Cooler Review

A Closer Look

Out of the box, the Thermaltake UX200 comes with the fan-preinstalled and in truth, you do not necessarily have to remove this to get it fitted to your system thanks to the push-pin mounting design.

In terms of presentation, the cooler has a sleek black design which contrasts well (even with the RGB off) with the fan design. It looks like the two parts were designed for each other rather than just slapped together. An ethos you do get from many competitive models.

The overall design of the cooler is quite sleek and, in comparison to alternatives, is definitely smaller than your average air cooler. This will, however, allow for plenty of room to ensure that RAM compatibility will definitely not be an issue when fitted to your system.

There are, of course, a few aesthetic touches to the UX200. These are, most notably the recessed logo to the fan (that gets a lot more exciting when the lights are working – more on that later) and the ‘Tt’ set into the top of the radiator.

Contact Plate

The contact plate is nice and large and, as such, should easily suit either Intel or AMD processors with, of course, the exception of the HEDT market (such as the AMD TR4 socket). With 4 copper pipes (totalling 8 leading away from the plate), this should provide some excellent heat dissipation.

Radiator

At a glance, the radiator looks fairly standard with its sleek black design. When you get a little closer, however, you do note some of the more interesting features.

One of the main ones is certainly both the number of vents as well as the excellent spacing between them. This should, all going well, provide maximum heat dissipation while also allowing plenty of airflow to take that all important heat away.

In addition, the slim design (and slightly recessed base) should also allow for no problems in terms of RAM compatibility. A major point that many don’t consider when purchasing an air cooler. Particularly given how ‘performance’ RAM can be quite large these days.

Fan

At a glance, the fan for the Thermaltake UX200 looks excellent. We’re not certain if their highly-rated Riing design had any influence here, but it’s pretty clear that this carries some strong RGB lighting effects even without them being switched on yet.

The fan itself is a Thermaltake own TT-12025 model. A design that (if we’re being honest) we’re not certain if we have encountered before. With its hydraulic bearing, however, this should provide an excellent (and most notably, quiet) performance.

Finally, a closer look at the 9 fan fins (try saying that quickly 5 times) does show a light flame patternation. Although they look great with the lights off, these do play a part when the ARGB is brought into the game!

Overall

On the whole, the Thermaltake UX200 looks to be a strong and competent cooler that offers a design aesthetic well beyond the price tag. There’s literally nothing in terms of what we can see here to find fault or cause for criticism.

The cooler, of course, does leap to a whole new level when the ARGB lighting effects are turned on which, quite frankly, look fantastic! Taking the design into conclusion, however, we have nothing but good things to say about the UX200.
