Test Setup

We decided to compare this cooler with another big hitter in the £30-40 category, the Alpenfohn Matterhorn. We will be testing at stock CPU frequencies and overclocked CPU frequencies of 4.6GHz which takes the CPU up to a maximum of 1.34V to really put the coolers through their paces.

Test system:

  • MSI P67A-GD65
  • Intel Core i7 2600K
  • 4GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz
  • XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB
  • Corsair TX650
  • NZXT M59 with 5 case fans

Comparison used:

  • Alpenfohn Matterhorn CPU Cooler
  • Overclocked to 4.6GHz (1.34V maximum)

Software used:

  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
  • HWMonitor
