ThermoLab Trinity Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler Review

Overclocked CPU TemperaturesWe repeated the testing with our i7 2600K overclocked to 4.6GHz using a higher than stock voltage of 1.288V in the BIOS and a maximum of 1.34V when under heavy load (our load testing procedure).
The first thing we need to mention is that the Alpenfohn Matterhorn cooler was reaching extremely high temperatures which were evidently causing system instability. We suffered a BSOD after 9 minutes of testing when under the load situation, but thankfully we managed to accurately record the temperatures. To make the comparison fair we also recorded the temperatures of the ThermoLab Trinity after 9 minutes of testing instead of the original 15 minutes we had planned.
We were amazed with the performance of the Trinity to say the least! It beat it’s Alpenfohn competitor by 5 degrees Celsius and the CPU only jumped to the maximum temperature of 70C for seconds as it was usually hovering around the 66C mark.
What’s more is that we decided to see if the Trinity could handle the full 15 minutes of load testing unlike the Matterhorn… it passed with flying colours!
We would have no problem using this cooler for 24/7 usage with frequencies in the 4.6GHz range on our 2600K processor.
