We all know that iPhones are expensive, but the new iPhone X is the most expensive one so far. That said, while many have already queued up to get their hands on one, some people decided that stealing a few hundred would be a better idea. The thieves in question managed to steal 313 of these devices by breaking into a UPS truck. The smartphones were on their way to an Apple store in San Francisco. Apparently, the driver parked just outside the Stonestown Galleria mall, and he made sure to lock up the cargo area. Still, the thieves managed to break in and carry several boxes from the truck into a Dodge van before speeding off. The entire scene was witnessed by a janitor, by the way. He stated that “it’s suspicious they were able to get that large a haul on that day.”
All in all, the iPhone X handsets are worth at least $370,000. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, as this new model has a starting price of $999. Those who pre-ordered their phones will still be able to pick them up according to the store’s owner. Those who missed out on these pre-orders have decided to buy their phones from eBay in order to get them as soon as possible. On that website, the model has an average price tag of $1,500, but there’s also a ridiculous listing for $25,000.
At the time of writing, the iPhone thieves are still at large.
