This Weeks World’s Dumbest Criminal Award Goes To… Facebook Guy

Having your house broken into, your property damaged, having your money and technology stolen is an awful thing to go through. It can be especially difficult as it’s often a hard crime to track down, or the police don’t really put a lot of effort into the task unless they can catch the person while they’re still in the act of burgling your property. Fortunately, sometimes the person who is stealing your stuff is so backwards that they do something legendarily stupid, saving you and the police a lot of effort when it comes to identifying them.

A man in Minnesota not only robbed someone’s house, stealing their cash, credit cards, a watch and a few others bits and pieces, but also took the time to log in to the home owners computer and check his Facebook. He then went and left it logged in!

“Nicholas Wig, 26, swiped cash, credit cards, and a watch before checking his profile on the social media site – but forgot to log off.” said police in a recent statement.

The home owner obviously noticed what had happened and what was left on his computers screen. Even going as far as changing the guys status to “Watch out for this guy- he’s a thief.” He also left his phone number so that if any of his Facebook friends wanted to contact him and provide information on where to find him, they could.

It gets even better, the criminal phoned the guy he robbed! Not only had he left his Facebook logged in, but also some clothes on the property. He agreed an exchange of his clothes and freedom in return for the mans goods and went to the house to do the deal. The police were waiting for him and he now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted.

Karma really caught up with this guy, idiot.
