Thortech Thunderbolt 1200W Semi Modular Review

A Closer Look – Exterior
The top of the unit is dominated by the 135mm fan and black fan grille. There’s also a Thortech badge at the centre of that grille.
The modular end has quite a modest number of connectors as roughly 40% of them are already attached. This is a semi-modular design.
The side has the Thunderbolt 1200W branding and 80 Plus Gold certification.
The other side features the same branding in reverse depending on which way you prefer to mount the PSU. Ours happened to get a little scratched up.
The bottom features the power sticker with all the key details.
The rear has hexagonal mesh, a power on/off switch and the kettle lead input.
Fixed cables include four 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, a 4+4 pin EPS, an 8 pin EPS and a motherboard 24 pin. There’s also a single SATA strand with four connectors on.
The sleeving used is a bit on the cheap side and is nearly transparent. I personally do not like the pattern but preferences will vary.
There are quite a lot of modular cables which come in a nice bag.
They include four more PCIe 6+2 pin connectors, six molex, one FDD and 8 more SATAs.
