THQ Nordic Puts A Burn on EA After Acquiring Experiment 101

THQ Nordic Fires Withering Burn Towards EA After Comparison

EA has a bit of a reputation amongst the gaming community. They buy out gaming companies and ruin them. This is either achieved by asset stripping or simply ceasing all production.

While EA is busy fire-fighting the PR disaster that Battleground 2 is turning into, THQ Nordic have been busy themselves.

Following the successful acquisition of gaming studio Experiment 101, THQ Nordic now successfully owns 100% of the highly anticipated online game Biomutant. Biomutant itself is rather a hot property at the moment and with a release due on PC and consoles 2018, the acquisition seems like a shrewd business move.

In a report via PCGamesN, following the announcement via Twitter, one user make a rather cynical comment. To which THQ Nordic had a rather withering response.

Feel the burn!

A user asked THQNordic if they were going to do an EA. By this, he rather cynically was suggesting shutting the studio down they responded with a little burn at EA. This largely down to EA’s recent shutdown of Visceral Games.

Respawn Entertainment will be feeling very nervous after their recent acquisition by EA.

In fairness, it’s a fair point. EA’s reputation and well and thoroughly deserved. The fact that they have allowed IP’s such as Dungeon Keeper, Theme Hospital, Command and Conquer etc. to die over the last 20 years is almost unforgivable.

When, oh when, will I ever get my Theme Hospital 2?

THQ Nordic is rather ironically not entirely disassociated with acquisitions themselves. The THQ aspect of the name came following the purchase of the THQ when they went under. Still, it’s pretty funny none-the-less and quite right too!

What do you think? A little harsh or does EA deserve some good criticism for the way it has dealt with its purchases? – Let us know in the comments!
