THQ to sell off its assets via an auction, EA rumoured as interested

The publisher behind Saints’ Row, Homefront, Darksiders, Metro 2033 and Company of Heroes (to name but a few), THQ, filed for bankruptcy in December. As a result of that bankruptcy THQ will now be auctioning their assets off on January the 22nd.

The publisher said that the auction will be a title by title sale of their assets which means that game titles like the games mentioned above will be sold to a rival company via the auction.

It is not confirmed whether THQ would auction off their studios, although one would suspect that the company will do so.

According to Distressed Debt Investing, EA would be a potential buyer of some of these titles, followed by Ubisoft and Warner Bros. As of now, at least five companies have declared an interest in this auction.
