Threadripper TDP and Cache Confirmed by AMD

AMD's "i9-Killer" Ryzen Threadripper HEDT CPU Lineup Starts at Only $549

Threadripper TDP

The latest AMD Threadripper CPUs are almost upon us, but one or two pretty significant details have eluded us this whole time. For some reason, we’ve been unable to find out the TDP of the latest processors, which was a little concerning. Of course, we knew it was going to be relatively high given the hardware in the chip, but how high?

First up we have the Threadripper 1950X and the Threadripper 1920X, which Videocardz report to be 180W. Unfortunately, the Threadripper 1900X remains to be seen. Of course, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out the bottom chip of the bunch will likely have a TDP below 180W. However, until we have it confirmed, we’ll have to wait and see.

Threadripper Cache

Moving on from that, we have the total cache size for both the Threadripper 1950X and the 1920X too. Each chip will clock in at a whopping 40MB and 38MB respectively. Again the 1900X cache size also eludes us. As with the TDP, it would also be safe to assume this will be a little under 38MB.

Price and Release Date

It looks like we’ll be seeing the two chips release on August 10th. Some stores are already taking their pre-orders too. The Threadripper 1950 will be $999, 1920X will be $799, and the 1900X $549. That’s not cheap, but given their promised performance and thread count, they are competitively priced against the Intel offerings.
