A Closer Look – Rudder
The whole setup is pretty much ready to rock right out of the box. There’s a hard-wired stick/throttle setup with a USB cable, while the optional pedals simply plug into the flight stick body. There are some adjustments you can make, but overall, there’s no assembly required.
The pedals are massive, and they look awesome too. The inner rails and framing are metal, giving them added weight. However, the pedals and outer casing is a hard-wearing plastic. It feels really well made though, and so it should since it’s going to spend many hours under your feet!
The pedals are mounted on a central pivot. Those orange lines indicate how much pivot you’ve applied, as you can see, it’s currently in the middle. However, you can push one foot forwards and pull the other back to turn it, perfect for rudder control.
The pedals slide up and down on these metal rails, which appear to have a nice coating of lithium grease, making for a super smooth action.
The pedals can also be pushed down much like any other pedal, allowing them to be used for flap control.
