Performance

The fit and finish of the headset is pretty decent. I’ll admit it does look and feel a little busy, but that’s partly due to it trying to copy an already existing and long-standing design. The ear cup padding is superb though, offering fairly steady ambient noise suppression. So much so that you only need to have music on quietly through the headset to block out typical room noise, the sound of the TV and people speaking.

Volume control is easy enough too, as there’s a volume dial right on the side of the ear cup. It’s enormous too, so you can easily find it while gaming and it has a nice smooth action too for clean adjustments.

The sound of the drivers is certainly interesting, it’s EQ’d right out of the box, or factory-tuned, whichever you like to call it. I’d say it’s boosted on the mid-range, while many gaming headsets simply tend to emphasise the bass. It’s got a warmer and more open sound than I was expecting. However, it’s a good sound overall and responds well to loud music without distortion. From SYL being blasted to Jeremy Soule it gives a great sound overall. I find that playing with the EQ netted some good results though, and suggest adding a little more treble as it really brought out a lot of detail, that is subjective though.

Quick adjustments of the ergonomics aren’t easy with this headset, however, that’s not a bad thing. The headband slider is screwed down on each side!

Loosen the screw off a bit.

Slide it to the desired length, and lock it down again. Of course, repeat the process on the other side. The advantage being that once you set it, it’ll never slip out of place.

Long term comfort is excellent too, I’ve had a few long gaming sessions with this and the headband is especially comfortable.

The ear cups offer a good clamping force, but due to the size and thickness of the foam, the weight is very well distributed so it doesn’t feel cumbersome.

I rarely use a desktop microphone, as I use my phone for work chatter, but should you need it, you can install the detachable microphone.

It’s got a notched system allowing to you rotate it forward or backwards between four levels to suit your needs.

Of course, the boom is flexible too, so you can easily get it where you need it. As for sound quality, it’s pretty decent, nothing special, but no major issues either really.

It worked well for a Zoom call, albeit I felt a bit of a show off with such a bright headset on. Overall though, the microphone was good in Discord and Skype too.

Of course, we can’t ignore that design. It’s not going to have the broadest appeal, but for racing fans, it’s obviously going to grab your attention.
