Thrustmaster T500 RS Racing Wheel + Ferrari F1 Wheel Attachment PS3/PC Review

So with this being a customisable setup, we see here that you can fully remove the steering wheel with just one screw, it only takes about 30 seconds to detach the wheel, which is not only great for changing between wheel attachments but also very handy for storage if your a little short on space.

We also get a better look at the fixed position paddle shifters on the left and right side, which do not rotate with the wheel.  These are really heavy duty too and the oversize design on them means they are always easy to reach with your finger tips.

Once the wheel is removed, you have the option of attaching this stunning F1 attachment, which as you can see is a pretty hardcore modification by any standard, unfortunately looks can be deciving and the GRP, MIX, REV, BOOST & TYPE dials are for show only, but not too much disappointment as everything else is fully functional.

We have the green and orange “K” and “PL” buttons on the top left and top right, down from there you have two rotatable dials mounted sideways mounted “DIF IN” and “CHRG”, then a column of 3 more push buttons down the left and right sides, two D-Pads, one on the bottom left and the other on the bottom right and finally we have the much smaller gear paddles just behind the wheel.

Very little going on around the back although you can see the mounting socket for connecting to the wheel base and a much better view of the fixed gear paddles.

Once mounted on the base, you can see that the F1 wheel sits a few inches further forward than the GT wheel, which is good because with two sets of gear changers now in place it keeps the fixed position GT paddles out of the way, leaving plenty of room for the F1 paddles that rotate with the wheel.
