We don’t have retail links right now, as our review samples were the first in the UK. We expect they’ll be launching very soon and it’s best to check with your own local or favourite online retailers for pre-order stock soon. Aerocool told us that their ThunderX3 TH40 Gaming Headset will be a very reasonable £47.99, which is amazing given the build quality, design, and performance on offer.
Overview
For their very first gaming headset, the TH40 is a real winner. While we can understand why many companies use OEM manufacturers for their first few releases, or even just for their budget ranges, it’s clear that Aerocool taking the time to design, manufacture and market their very own hardware from scratch has paid off in a big way.
The build quality is rock solid, far better than anything else you’ll find in the sub £50 price range, with a nice blend metal work and good quality padding, if you were asked to guess the price, you could easily imagine this being an £80+ product. Durability is certainly high, but those good quality components lend well to the overall design too, giving the headset a premium look and feel overall.
For this price range, the headset has far more features that I would have expected. Crazy and cool looking LED lighting on the back of the drivers, a detachable noise-cancelling microphone, powerful 53mm drivers, an on-cable volume controller, and then there’s the comprehensive software. The desktop software isn’t vital to using the headset, but it’s highly recommended, as it adds access to virtual surround that actually works very well, a powerful EQ, effects and so much more, giving the TH40 exceptional value for money.
Performance is very well-rounded, and this is a very enjoyable headset for watching movies, playing games, team chat, Skype calling, listening to music and more. A good headset should be a jack of all trades, and the TH40 has solid acoustic performance to suit your needs. The closed back driver design, over the ear soft leather padding and the noise cancelling microphone also make it well suited to gaming in noisy environments, so taking it to your next LAN event shouldn’t be a problem either.

“The ThunderX3 TH40 is easily one of our favourite headsets, as for this price range, you’ll struggle to find anything else that offers this level of build quality, design and performance.
