Tobii Tech Showcases Eye Tracking Sensor Bar @ CES 2016

CES 2016: Tobii Tech’s eye tracking sensor bar is almost certainly the most interesting product I’ve seen at CES 2016 thus far. The device works in combination with supported games to track your eye movements and glance around the environment. This works extremely well and doesn’t detract from the traditional gameplay experience in the same way gesture controls do. The technology was demoed on Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and GTA V. I personally used the sensor bar in GTA V and could easily target specific vehicles just as accurately as using a gamepad or traditional keyboard and mouse setup. As you can see from the imagine below, the sensor bar can easily be attached to gaming laptops which makes it a portable marvel. According to the company’s representative, MSI will be launching a laptop which integrates this eye tracking functionality into one of their flagship models.
Initially, I was quite skeptical about the technology and wondered how seamless the integration with games would be. So far, its superb and has the potential to add a new dimension to existing games. Tobii Tech were kind enough to provide a prototype and we should be receiving information regarding game support in the near future.
What do you think of this intriguing eye tracking device?
