Tom Clancy’s The Division Will Receive Two Free Expansions This Year

Tom Clancy’s The Division is a pretty nice game if you’re into open world third-person shooters. Just in case you’re experiencing a bit of a content drought, you’ll be glad to know that Ubisoft plans to release not one but two expansions for this title in 2017, and the best part is that they’re going to be free. Furthermore, even though the new Avatar game was announced, it looks like this title won’t shift Massive’s focus away from The Division, at least according to Giancarlo Varanini, Ubisoft’s Senior Communications Manager.

“Massive is growing incredibly fast, and the announcement for Avatar is new for everybody, but it’s not news for us. This is something that’s been in the works for a while. The studio here is already much bigger than it was at the time of the release of The Division. The second thing: it’s not just Massive behind The Division. This is an alliance of different studios – Massive in Sweden, Ubisoft Annecy in France, Reflections in Newcastle, and of course, Red Storm in North Carolina. There’s a huge amount – hundreds of dedicated developers – working on Year One and Year Two [Division content].”

The game’s first expansion will include a series of events with leaderboards and unique modifiers, and players will be able to obtain unique vanity items as rewards for their participation. The second expansion will focus more on delivering extra content, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be any new story missions. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.

Are you looking forward to these new expansions for Tom Clancy’s The Division?
