Topower Black-X Series DDR3 1333MHz 8GB Memory Kit Review

Though we’ve only looked at one kit from Topower previous to this, we are starting to see a bit of a trend when it comes to their kits as they offer a simple solution that gives the results you expect, and I’m not just talking about stock performance. At stock we saw some fairly strong numbers when comparing against other similar kits on the market, and compatibility seemed to be fine also.

The kit really did shine when we started to tweak things and of course overclock. A nice increase from 1333MHz to 1866MHz is a nice gain and perfect for the average user who doesn’t require much more speed than this, and of course allows for a boost in performance, without it costing you what an 1866MHz kit may cost. After stressing for several hours, we found that stability was no issue whatsoever at this overclocked speed and with a bit more time and patience, we do believe that you could surpass 1866MHz, but this may take a long time and you may actually see the performance numbers dropping after the peak point of performance has been met.

Availability on this particular kit in the UK market isn’t exactly forthcoming but this is down to Topower being fairly new to the UK market, and over time we should see this change. In terms of price, we should be expecting this kit to come in under the £50 mark, giving it fairly good value for money, though other well known brands can be had for around the same, so it’s all down to personal preference.

One strong area of this kit that I believe the avid user will enjoy is the unique colour scheme which looks a bit classier than other kits on the market, which adds to the value aspect in my honest opinion, but won’t be liked by everyone, but for the money, does offer a stylish set of heatspreaders with some great performance underneath.

The end result is a reasonably priced kit that could be a big hit once availability gets sorted out, and can appeal to a mass amount of users in different areas, with overclocking and compatability being a strong focal point as we saw earlier on in our review. So if you are are in the market for a no frills option that gives you extra oomph on tap, then you can’t really go wrong with this kit, though other more well known brands can be had for around the same price, if not a little a bit cheaper.
