Hard drive manufacturer Toshiba have begun conducting sample shipments of their latest enterprise level storage drives, with SAS/SATA connectivity and a 4TB capacity.
Nearline storage devices are used as transistional archiving units with the capability of being easily accessed from many local or wide area networks. These drives have a special overwrite functionality where it allows a data transfer from an authorized system and writes specific command data on each disk. This way, data that is recorded can not be extracted by any user.
There will be two versions of the drives, the MG03ACA400 using a SATA interface and MGSCA400 with SAS. There is no current word on pricing as of yet.
