Toshiba showcased a reference display of the world’s first PCI Express (PCIe) single package SSD at CES that integrates up to 256 GB in a single BGA package and the world’s smallest removable module type SSD, which integrates the BGA single package SSD on a single-sided form factor.
Utilizing Toshiba’s cutting-edge packaging technology already applied in products like eMMC, this is the world’s first PCI Express single package SSD available in capacities up to 256 GB and in a 16 x 20 x 1.65 mm BGA package. The new SSDs incorporate NVM Express while weighing below 1 gram.
It will be really interesting to see how these SSDs can perform once they become commercially available, but the physical size is already quite impressive.
