Toshiba X300 6TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive Review
Anvil’s Storage Utilities
Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a relative new benchmarking utility that has the ability to test mainly hard drives and solid state drives, but also any other form of storage medium that you can throw at it. It is completely free as well, which is a nice thing

Drive Analysis
The drive-analysis shows the drive’s performance over various fillage scenarios. The straighter the line, the better the result. We really want a consistent performance across the entire drive.
Drive Comparison
For comparison reasons, the drive comparison chart will use values from the fresh and empty drive.
One Question: Unlike all other HDD manufacturers, why doesn’t Toshiba list the drive’s spec for: MTBF and Load/Unload values for their X300 drives ? I’ve attempted to obtain this info from Toshiba Japan as well as their international affiliates, all of which confirm this info is not disclosed by Toshiba. When asked why, their response was they feel this specification is not necessary for consumer HDD’s. I am hopeful you can look into this further as this non-disclosure is quite concerning. If the actual MTBF is say 500K and the load/ unload is 100K…wow this would be a huge concern considering the present norm for entry level drives is 750K and 300K respectively. Pls express your concerns or forward your inquiry to Toshiba: answer@webcom.toshiba.co.jp

Yes I observed tihs webpage and ran it by Toshiba, they advised it was incorrect and finally confirmed the true MTBF (or MTTF as they refer) is 600,000 hours, with Load/Unload – 300,000.
Ok thanks good to know. I just bought a 5TB X300 and crossing my fingers! I have had past good experiences with WD and Seagate
The Toshiba N300 has an MTTF of 1,000,000 hours, the X300 is nearly identical to that drive.
Maybe they don’t publish the X300s MTTF because they ARE identical and people won’t buy the N300.
Is the drive loud? I have Toshiba 4TBs and they are really loud.
I have 3x 6TB in my NAS connected to the TV and it really silent
