TOUGHFAN 14 Pro High Static Pressure PC Cooling Fan Review

A Closer Look

The fans themselves look superb, and not wholly unlike the Noctua NF-A12x25 design which also has a larger reinforced motor design and more durable fan blades. That’s not a bad thing either, as the Noctua fan is very good indeed, so if Thermaltake is going down a similar design route, that can only be a good thing.

The fan blades are a little longer than usual for a 140mm fan, this means the clearance is just 0.6mm from the frame. It’s not much, but it means there’s now a little more fan in the same space, which means even better airflow.

However, to achieve this they’re now using a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) construction to prevent vibration and deformation of the blades, or they would scuff up the frame!

The rear of the fan is also improved, with a new square frame that prevents air from getting out of the sides, keeping the air pressure higher when installed on radiators.

There’s a large bevelled edge leading away from the blades too, which further accelerates the air away from the fan.

Of course, there are thick anti-vibration mounts on all four corners, and on both sides of the fan, so it doesn’t matter if you fit them to a case, a cooler or a radiator, with long or short screws, it’ll also be dampened against unwanted vibrations.
