Trailer for New Tomb Raider Movie Reboot Released

Trailer for New Tomb Raider Movie Reboot Released

Photos of Alicia Vikander surfaced several months ago, looking a lot like the younger Tomb Raider from the 2013 game reboot. That game reboot successfully relaunched the ailing franchise so it only makes sense to reboot the movie series as well. The reboot itself is an origin story of sorts for the Lara Croft character. So it helps to introduce new audiences if the storyline starts at the beginning of her career, before she even became the “Tomb Raider” version of Lara Croft.

Angelina Jolie made the Lara Croft character popular back in the 00’s, spawning two movies in total. However, she is now 42-years old and unable to play the younger Tomb Raider on the reboot. Alicia Vikander looks very suitable for the role and she even looks a lot like the younger Lara in the 2013 game reboot. The movie story follows the template of the 2013 game closely, marooning the young heroine in a dangerous island.

Full Trailer Posted on Instagram

After posting a short teaser on YouTube yesterday, the full trailer was posted first on co-star Daniel Wu’s Instagram. However, Instagram doesn’t handle wide-screen videos so it is cropped at the center with a square format. Nonetheless, fans can see plenty of action shots and the new Tomb Raider herself in action.

Once the wide-screen trailer is available, this article will receive an update.
