Hellboy Reboot
You may not have been aware, but a reboot to the Hellboy franchise is currently underway. It has been 10 years since we last saw a film from this franchise, albeit, a lot of that time was spent unsuccessfully trying to get the third film from the original series. It seems that the studio has instead decided to give it a fresh start.
With the release of a brand new trailer, it’s certainly looking pretty good!

The trailer, which you can watch in full below, certainly seems to put a lot more emphasis onto violence and comedy than the original films. It seems that they are certainly looking to go down a darker and more macabre road this time around. There is, however, something from the trailer that just makes me feel like I’ve seen something like this before! Have a watch and then let’s compare notes.
Hellboy Could Be Great, But…
I don’t know how you will feel about it having watched the trailer, but I came away with the distinct impression that they were looking to push this very much into the areas that the recent Deadpool films used. Comedy combined with some hardcore violence. Now, don’t get me wrong. That could be a great thing! Lord knows that the Deadpool films are amazing. It is, however, a criticism (or at least undesired comparison) that I can’t help but feel the film is setting itself up for.
Hellboy is set to release in cinemas on April 12th, 2019.
