TRENDnet announced the launch of their a product category, the EdgeSmart Series switches. EdgeSmart switches are designed with only the most commonly used managed switch features. It was made in order to reduce unnecessary switch complexity and make it easier for more novice users.
“The EdgeSmart switches add network control and management at the edge of your network,” said Evan Davis, senior manager of solutions engineering at TRENDnet. “These switches are ideally designed for simple networks found in most small and medium business, by focusing on just the primary features needed.”
The new line of EdgeSmart products launches with TRENDnet’s 8-Port Gigabit EdgeSmart PoE+ Switch which has the model number TPE-TG44ES.
The switch features four Gigabit PoE+ ports as well as four standard Gigabit PoE ports. It is designed for high-speed Gigabit PoE+ applications with devices such as high-power wireless access points, advanced IP cameras, and VoIP telephony systems.
Each EdgeSmart series switch features an easy-to-use web-based management interface, and that’s what this series is all about. You can control the traffic, trouble shoot trouble, have access controls, and can monitoring activity. The EdgeSmart switches support LACP, VLAN, QoS, and IGMP snooping; bandwidth control per port; and IEEE 802.1p QoS with queue scheduling.
The TPE-TG44ES has a total power budget of 60W for its PoE and a 16Gbps switching capacity for full-duplex operation. The compact design makes it easy to place, whether you want to wall mount it or place it somewhere on a desk. The switch isn’t just compact, it’s also fanless. That is another great feature, especially if you plan on placing the switch in an office environment.
The price of $114.99 isn’t bad either, especially when you consider that it comes with a lifetime warranty.
TRENDnet currently plans to add three additional EdgeSmart switches, including two industrial switches. A PoE+ powered switch will also be released. You can check out the individual details below:
