TRENDnet announces the availability of the Home Smart Switch with Wireless Extender dubbed the THA-101, that is a combination of a smart electrical outlet and a powerful N300 wireless extender.
The THA-101 is a tiny box with a lot of functionality packed into it. It can extend the coverage of your WiFi network to locations that otherwise have bad or no reception and where most WiFi extenders just take up the outlet, this one also has a pass through. But that isn’t all it can do. Combining the two features makes the wall-plug smart. You can now control the outlets power-state with the supplied Android or Apple mobile app. The mobile app can also provide you with real-time electrical consumption readings, a nifty little extra feature.
The THA-101 has a 16 Amps over-current protection that trips a circuit relay in case that should be exceeded, thus protecting connected devices. It supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n up to 300 Mbps and the WEP, WPA/WPA-PSK encryption standards. It comes with a WPS, reset, and power buttons and has LED indicators for easy status viewing.
The THA-101 is backed by a 3-year warranty and should be available now at an MSRP of $79.99. The UK model weighs 160 grams and is the heaviest of the available models and it comes with a power capacity of 3120 Watts / 13 Amps.
