Whatever was said about Call of Duty, you can’t deny the fact that it’s selling like cupcakes and even though it seemed that Battlefield 3 was the favourite of the year, they proved to go easily head to head in terms of sales. As if it weren’t enough, it seems that Treyarch is preparing for new settlements in the COD series.
Sure you can give Battlefield 3 the thumbs up in the graphics and Modern Warfare 3 the thumbs down in innovation, fact is that it’s making good money, which obviously translates into more fans buying the game.
But we can’t forget the faults that we’ve seen, notably the recycling of the game graphics, pushing it as far as re-using the same buildings. Yet it hasn’t stop Treyarch from recruiting through job offerings, with a number of positions open, including Gameplay Combat Designer and a Scripter, it certainly leads to believe in a new game.
Obviously, for a possible 2012 release, there is no information, although we all expect to see the same thing as the previous releases, however some graphical innovations could potentially give the series a nice boost.
Aside from a new game, hopefully Call of Duty: Elite could finally come to the PC platform before the new settlements arrive.
