Ever since the classic movies oh so long ago, Star Wars fans around the world have wanted to know what it’s like to be in the shoes of a Jedi knight. Motion controls came close in their attempt to simulate the iconic Lightsaber combat of the franchise, but now Vive owners can enjoy a far more immersive experience on the planet of Tatooine for free courtesy of Lucasarts, Valve and HTC.
Taking place shortly after Luke defeated the Emperor in Return of the Jedi, Trials on Tatooine has players assume the role of a Jedi padawan, venturing to Tatooine aboard the Millennium Falcon and receiving a lightsaber from a certain well-known droid. Players must then put this saber to good use, skillfully deflecting blaster shots throughout the course of the adventure.
The VR adventure has already been made available to attendees of the Star Wars Celebration that took place at London’s ExCel centre last weekend which featured an impressive display by Industrial Light and Magic. Now those who own a Vive in their own home instead of attending the event are able to try out the experience and take a glimpse at the kind of Star Wars game we just may get in future courtesy of VR.
