Tsunami D-35 USB 3.0 HDD Enclosure Review

Test Setup
There is not much testing we can do with regards to an external enclosure but as it is a USB 3 interface we can to see the performance is as good as expected.
We will firstly, test and compare (via several methods) the read and write speeds of the dock itself. For all tests we will use the same hard drive, a 3.5 7200 RPM Maxtor DiamondMax 20 160GB SATA II with an 8 MB cache buffer.
We will use the program HD_Speed which is free to download to test the read and write speeds of the drive. Each test will be repeated 3 times (Read and Write separately).
We will test the Tsunami D-35 as it is meant to be run, using the USB 3.0 connection. We will then also test the device using a USB 2.0 connection. For comparison, we will also test this drive using the internal SATA connections of my computer. These tests will be repeated three times to gain a good average.
For comparison purposes we will include the speeds recorded in the Akasa Duo Dock 2S (reviewed here at eTeknix.com) as this was a similar USB 3.0 device.
This whole test will then be repeated with an OCZ Vertex 2 60 GB 2.5″ SSD to really push the Tsunami D-35 to its limits and to see what the maximum speeds are we can get through this device. Unfortunately we cannot compare these speeds with the Akasa Duo Dock 2S but instead will compare these speeds with the SSD plugged directly into a SATA slot on my motherboard. We will use the same testing procedure for both internal and external.
Results will all be averaged and then recorded. We will aim to test all drives under the same conditions to keep it as fair as possible.
I will test this device using the following system:

This rig also includes a Plexus USB 3.0 PCI Express card as my motherboard does not include any USB 3.0 ports.
Of course we will also test it like any other peripheral for its general features and functionality as well as its design.
