Final Thoughts
Unfortunately, with the performance as poor as this we cannot help wonder whether there is a serious design flaw with this device. This might well be a one off with regards to our test sample but unfortunately the first device we were sent did not work at all and as such we at eTeknix.com do not recommend you purchasing this device as it is not guaranteed to work and if it does it may not work as well as you would expect.
That said, the rest of the device did function as expected, it is a good plug and play system and only takes a few seconds to be recognised by Windows 7. The product is well built and fairly rigid but this is really overshadowed by the poor performance.
Pros:
- Gives some speed increase over USB 2.0
- Well designed and built
- Will work with any hd that is 3.5
Cons:
- Max. Speeds of 37.5 is very limiting for backups
We would like to thank Beyond Technologies for supplying this sample

EDIT (28/06/2011): It has now become apparent that any faults with this device and the apparent speeds that were measured at the time of reviewing were due to a firmware issue. This has since been rectified and the new firmware is available for download. eTeknix however have not tested this latest firmware and as such we take no responsibility for any consequences that may occur from you downloading or installing this firmware.
