Tt eSPORTS Challenger PRIME Gaming Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Price

Here is the killer feature of this keyboard. You can pick one up from popular retailer NewEgg for just $29.99 in the US or £19.99 in the UK. that’s pocket money territory in my opinion, especially for such a feature packed product. As a gift, as a quick and cheap replacement for your own keyboard, a spare keyboard, or plain and simple, an affordable product for those on a tight budget.

Overview

I’m really impressed with this keyboard and what it has to offer. Of course, at this price it is very hard to pick faults in the product, of which there are a few, but there all pretty minor and again, easy to overlook given the retail price. This is a cheap keyboard, let’s not sugar coat that as it has been designed and priced to be one. Some of the plastics on it don’t feel particularly great, they’re a little thinner in places than you might like, but they’re not so bad that the keyboard is unpleasant to use or that it feels like it’s going to break from general day-to-day and gaming usage.

The membrane keys are exactly that, if you’ve used any membrane keyboard before then you’re educated to guess what these keys are like to use. They’re light to type on, have a soft yet responsive bounce and they’re also very quiet, especially so compared to the often clanky tones of a mechanical keyboard. Some people prefer membrane, some people like mechanical, the choice is really yours on that one; although you’re unlikely to find a mech keyboard in this price range.

The LED backlighting is a nice touch, as it really adds colour and style to an otherwise generic and aggressive “gaming” design. There are only a few colours to pick from, but they do look nice and it’s great when gaming in a darker environment. Aside from the lighting, TteSports has gone above and beyond in cramming features into this keyboard, with a host of dedicated macro keys, programmable macro and shortcut functions, on-keyboard lighting controls, multimedia shortcuts and more! There isn’t really much it doesn’t do and that makes it a solid all-round performer for gamers and day-to-day desktop users alike.

Pros

  • Huge range of features
  • Firm rubber grips on base
  • Spill-resistant design
  • LED lighting
  • Braided cable
  • Dedicated macro keys
  • Extremely affordable

Cons

  • Kickstands cause the keyboard to lose desktop grip
  • Some plastics are of a lower quality (understandable given the price)
  • Backlighting could be a little brighter on the keycaps

“The TteSports Challenger Prime is not perfect, but it does a lot to make up for its shortcomings and offers a vast range of features that are near impossible to beat at this price range.”
