TteSPORTS Cronos AD Gaming Headset Review

A Closer Look

The TteSPORTS Chronos AD is one great looking headset, blending glossy and matte black finishes with a few dashes of red and silver. There’s a large Tt dragon on the back, which becomes red LED backlit when the USB cable is connected, but stays off when you’re only using the 3.5mm mobile audio cable.

On the base of the left ear cup, there’s a proprietary jack for the included cables, and you can use either the mobile 4-pole, or the dual 3.5mm cable to suit the needs of your device.

The headband is auto-adjusting, meaning you can quickly put it on and never have to worry about adjusting the sides to get the perfect fit.

On the top, a nice bit of branding on the inner headband, as two durable, yet flexible, support arms to help keep the ear cups firmly over your ears.

There’s some nice soft cloth-covered padding on the interior too, ensuring it stays comfortable during those longer gaming sessions.

Although I wish I could say the same here, as the ear cup padding feels a little sparse, and they feel a bit hard on the ear. It will no doubt become more comfortable once worn in a little, but it doesn’t fully sit over the ear, nor is it small enough to fit fully on the ear.

One of the cooler features is the retractable microphone, which tucks away into the left ear cup.

Simply pull out the flexible boom and you’re good to go, and when you’re done, it tucks away with ease. The microphone is pretty decent too, offering up bright and clear audio with no nnoticeabledistortion. It doesn’t have much in the way of noise cancellation, but it does a good job of ignoring enough background noise for use at gaming events.

I’ve long been a fan of the drivers used in TteSPORTS headsets and the Cronos AD is no exception. The offer up a solid bass response, warm mids and clear highs that gives you a really powerful and detailed sound. They’re a little treble heavy at times, which has me reaching for my EQ when listening to music, but does sound great overall. However, this a gaming headset first and foremost, and that’s certainly where they sound their best, bringing out the detail in the enemy footsteps nicely, and giving you just enough thump to explosions to enjoy them, but not turn your head into a meat stack after a long gaming session.

The microphone works very well for gaming, and team chat audio cuts through the mix with a nice natural sound. I would have liked more padding on the ear cups through, as they don’t block a lot of external noise. This isn’t a bad thing if you prefer a more open sound through, it’s really a matter of preference here.

The headset works really well on mobile devices, and we had no issues using it through the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One either, but if you’re on PC, you can plug in the extra USB header for some lovely red LED flair. It doesn’t change the performance, but that extra bit of lighting does look pretty slick, and we’re happy to have it powered on.
