Shock Performance

The Shock offers up some pretty powerful bass tones and it ripped through the heaviest end of my death metal collection just as easy as it played through some Mozart and some Pendulum, it’s not the most refined sound quality ever but it’s certainly on par with any mid range set of over ear headphones. For gaming they offer plenty of power, volume and wow factor that should keep you more than happy given the headsets modest price tag.

The microphone isn’t too bad either, its nothing amazing but then again I don’t think there are many headsets under £100 that have a microphone that impresses me much, either way it’s certainly more than enough for a few Skype calls or yelling at people on Call of Duty, which is to say that its good enough for most gamers.

Shock One Performance

The Shock One offers up a little more than the Shock, and overall sound quality is, without a doubt, the same in both music and gaming when you leave the settings at standard. Both headsets feature the same 40mm drivers, the only difference on the Shock One is the drivers and software which allow for virtual 5.1 and DTS sound. I don’t much like virtual sound systems, but the one on the Shock One isn’t too bad, nor is it amazing either, it does add a lot of depth and extra wow factor over the sound of the other headset,but its the EQ settings that gain the most merit from me, allowing you to tweak the sound of those powerful drivers to your liking.

The microphone is also identical to the other headset, at least as far as I can.
