TteSports Shock & Shock One PC Gaming Headset Review

So there we have it, two headsets that offer quite similar packages, but for two very different price tags, but which is the best value for money?

Well the Shock One is £60 and while its twice the price of the Shock it does come with a few extra features to justify that price tag. First up we have the removable ear cup padding, it doesn’t sound like much, but being able to choose between soft fabric and soft leather makes a big difference to comfort dependant on your own preferences, it can also make a big difference to how much noise you can block out from your environment, not to mention it makes the headset easier to clean.

The Shock One also features virtual 5.1 surround sound and equalizer through its included software that certainly expands its sound capabilities and while its nothing incredible to my ears, it’s a little extra that you don’t normally see within this price range.

The Shock One also features some extra style points on the headset, such as the red plastics on the ear cups, a good quality braided cable and of course the much improved in line remote control.

So what about the much more budget friendly Shock? Priced at just £30 its certainly an impressive headset for the money, it sound just as good as the Shock One in regards to gaming, music and voice chat, but it doesn’t feature and of the virtual surround sound settings or equalizes that its more expensive counterpart does.

It also features a non braided cable and a cheaper in-line control design on the hard-wired cable. Yet even with all that considered it does feature the same high quality driver, same construction and typically the same shape and size as the Shock One, aside from the fact that this one connects via 3.5mm jack and not USB they’re pretty much the same headset on a hardware level.

If you want a rock solid sounding headset that will allow you to chat and game on a tight budget, then the Shock is the headset for you, without a doubt. If you want the same base level performance, with a better quality cable, some handy EQ settings and USB connection then the Shock One is still good value for money and both are very competitively priced for their feature set.

If I had to make a choice though, I would personally go with the Shock One, the good quality cable may help the headset live longer without breaking and I really like being able to adjust that EQ as the bass can be a little heavy sometimes, although that’s more a personal preference than fault of the headset.

The Shock is more than deserving of our Bang for Buck Award, of course I already awarded the Shock One our Gamers Choice award in my previous review of that set, an award it’s still worthy of.
