The Tt eSPORTS Talon Blu Optical Gaming Mouse is available from many major retailers for under £20/$25, which is an absolute bargain. It’s not the greatest mouse in the world, but it’s got enough features and performance to justify the price tag.
Overview
I have mixed feelings about this mouse, I guess on the surface of it, it’s just not the kind of mouse I would personally purchase, nor is it the kind of mouse I actually need. However, I can see the appeal here for those on a tight budget, with a price just under £20, it’s certainly affordable.
The build quality is reasonable, with the grippy coating on the exterior panels, the Omron switches and scroll wheel feels great. The sensor performance could certainly be better at higher DPI settings, but for the bulk of the range, it’s as smooth as silk and it’s also unlikely you’ll be using the higher settings for anything that requires accuracy.
The removable side panels are a nice touch, allowing you to tweak the grip and ergonomics of the mouse. It would be even better if the side panels clipped off tool-free, as it can be tricky taking them off with a screwdriver; not something you can quickly do between games.
I’m also confused why the mouse would have an ambidextrous design, yet only have one set of side buttons. If you’re a lefty, then you’re going to lose some functionality right away. I’m not going to mark the mouse down too much for this, however, as it’s still a decent mouse for right-hand use.
