Tunai Wand Bluetooth TV Adaptor Review

Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

At this time, the Tunai Wand is pre-crowdfunding. They’re seeking to raise $15,000, and pledges start at just $15 for the Super Early Bird, giving you a WAND at 75% off. Moving up, you’ll find similar at $25 and beyond offering other deals that include a SQUARE Wireless Amplifier. The MSRP is currently $59.99.

Overview

There’s not a whole lot to say about the WAND, and that’s not a criticism of the product either. It’s a remarkably simple device that solves a problem a lot of people may not have even known they had. Will it be the hottest product of 2018? Not really, but is there a market for it? Absolutely.

Usage

Your partner, housemate, the kids, whoever are chilling out, busy with work, or just have a freaking headache, it doesn’t matter. However, you want to kick back and watch Die Hard for the eight millionth time without bothering anyone. Enter the WAND, where you can simply take over the TV yet not bother anyone else with the noise. For me, I can pair my trusty Philips Bluetooth ANC headphones, kick back and relax. This is great for watching my music DVDs given not everyone shares my love for Death Metal concerts at 11 pm. Bonus, if you’ve got two sets of Bluetooth headphones, your buddy can tune in too.

But Can’t My TV Do This Anyway?

If yours can pair a Bluetooth device, awesome, you’re in luck. However, the Tunai WAND has a few more tricks available that put it a cut above standard Bluetooth pairing on a gaming device or TV. For one, you can pair two headsets, which is pretty fantastic. It’ll also retrofit Bluetooth to devices that do not support it. Such as a Vinyl record player and amp combo, an old TV that only had a headphone or AUX output. Heck, even my old PlayStation 1 has AUX output, and that sure doesn’t have Bluetooth audio… well, not it does, thanks WAND!

What Could They Improve?

I think the product is just fine as it is. Personally, I would like to see an Optical cable included. Will everyone need it? Maybe not, but I think offering the ability to connect to any of the ports out of the box is a big win for consumers. The pairing could be improved too, just a button to hold to turn it on and sync, it would potentially make things more straightforward for some. I’m nitpicking though, the WAND does precisely what it promises, and it does it well.

Should I Buy One?

It’s a unique product, and certainly won’t be needed by everyone. However, it’s got some cool features, and personally, I’ll keep one around just for those days where connectivity options are otherwise limited. It opens up another way to pair older devices with new devices, and I love that. The price seems fair too, and while everything can change in the Kickstarter, so far, I think they’re on the right track.
