Turtle Beach Announces Stealth Ultra Gaming Controller With Command Display

Turtle Beach is a big name in the peripherals market though more towards consoles than PCs. Today they’ve announced their new Stealth Ultra Wireless Gaming Controller which features hall effect thumbsticks as well as a first-of-its-kind full-colour connected command display built into the controller.

Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra

The Stealth Ultra is a controller designed for Xbox and PC and is Turtle Beach’s flagship wireless gaming controller. It offers ultra-premium performance with precision crafted components and customization options with the built in display. This built in “Command Display” allow users to customise their controller including RGB lighting, game and chat audio settings, thumb stick sensitivity, mappable buttons and a lot more. Beyond controls, users can also keep track of social media notifications from your phone and provides battery and connection information.

Thumb Sticks and Buttons

Alongside the display, the stealth ultra boasts anti-drift thumb sticks which use hall-effect sensors for enhanced accuracy and improved durability. There are also two sets of domed thumb stick caps for extra customization options. The other buttons make use of tactile microswitches which are rated at 5-million clicks all within the ABXY, D-Pad, four mappable buttons and bumpers all with a reliable and fast response every press. The triggers can also be adjusted for short hair trigger presses or long full-distance presses for racing games.

Design and Other Features

The design of the controller makes use of premium materials including soft-touch finishes and comfortable and ergonomic grips for added long lasting comfort. There are also cooling channels for reducing sweaty palms. There is also two RGB strips along the handles of the controller which can be customised through the command display with 16.8 million different colours. The controller features a 3.5mm audio jack which can enhance connected headphones with Turtle-Beach exclusive audio features, including Superhuman hearing, EQ audio presets, chat volume mix and mic monitoring.

Battery and Connectivity

The controller is wireless and features up to a 30 hour battery life on a single charge when using without the RGB lighting. The controller can be fully charged in under 2 hours through high speed USB 3.0 charging and comes with a charging dock that doubles as a place to conveniently rest your controller when not in use.

What Turtle Beach Had To Say

“The Stealth Ultra’s premium components, build quality, and features elevate it beyond any other controller in the market today, and firmly establishes it as the must-have controller for gamers who want the best,” notes Cris Keirn, Interim CEO & SVP of Global Sales, Turtle Beach Corporation. “Turtle Beach controllers have been designed to provide the ultimate in control and to integrate features far exceeding the category. The all-new Stealth Ultra is a supreme testament to that ideal and another clear example of Turtle Beach continuing to deliver on that promise to our fans.”

Price and Availability

The Stealth Ultra is available for pre-order now at turtlebeach.com but it does not come cheap at £179.99/$199.99. That’s a lot more than a £54.99 bog-standard Xbox Wireless Controller and even after taking it through the Xbox design lab. The controller officially releases December 15th.
