A Closer Look

The in-line controller plugs directly into the Xbox One control pad, giving you chat and general volume controls that are easily within your reach during gaming and the headset plugs directly into the 3.5mm port on the base.

The first thing I noticed about the XO Four is that textured black plastic, to put it bluntly it looks awful! it has a very cheap look about it and I would have expected a more premium finish at this price range. It does however give an understated look to what is otherwise a very well constructed feel, the plastics are pretty tough, they just look cheap in my opinion.

On the underside of the ear cup you’ll see that the headset is hard-wired to a 4-pole 3.5mm cable, this means it can be plugged directly into your mobile device, or any 3.5mm jack port for audio as well as the controller hub that we saw above.

The boom microphone clips into the port just next to the hard-wired hook-up cable and its bendy design allows you to tweak it to a suitable resting position.

Each driver is trimmed with a green strip around the back of the ear padding, giving a nice touch of colour to the otherwise rather bland looking headset. Each ear cup is adjustable thanks to the horizontal and vertical pivots that have been used to mount them, so you should have no issues finding a close fit over your ears.

The back of the ear cup features a semi-open design thanks to a tightly packed mesh panel.

The padding is really tough and durable, which means it should last you a long while before wearing out, but may also take a few long gaming sessions to break it in.

Each of the ear cups can be folded inwards, this allows the headset a more comfortable resting position when you hang it around your neck, much easier than removing it between matches.

The headband extender is only plastic, but it does feel pretty durable overall.

The headband padding isn’t very thick, but it does feel pretty comfortable and supportive non the less.
