The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero Wireless Headset is available now for just £129.99 in the UK and around $160 in the US. In that regard, I think Turtle Beach has really outdone themselves, literally. Their flagship pro headsets are easily £200-250, and I’d take this one over any of them in a heartbeat. This level of features and performance in a wireless headset at this price? It’s a freaking steal is what it is.
Can’t afford the full headset? How about the Atlas Edge. This handsome processor adds Waves NX 3D Audio to any 3.5mm headset; like my older Atlas headset, hurray! That’s just £24.99 in the UK and $29.99 in the US.
Turtle Beach has broken down the fantastic Elite Atlas gaming headset and rebuilt it to be better than ever. They’ve changed the appearance, and it’s certainly for the better. Not to say the old model looked rubbish though, far from it, I rather like it. Again, I have used the Atlas daily for about a year now. However, the matte finish, the exposed durable bolts, it really does look better now.
Easily the biggest improvement is the ergonomics. The size adjustment has been improved, the headband is more comfortable too. Now it all pivots, rotates, and even folds down, making it very comfortable and extremely travel-friendly. If that’s not enough, you also get a plethora of built-in controls to deal with the wireless functionality. I love that you can macro almost all of the software features directly to your keyboard and mouse though, that’s a real game-changer.
The 50mm drivers are some of the best around, especially at this price range. They pack a mighty punch and loads of detail that’s sure to put a smile on your face. Plus, the exhaustive list of EQ profiles, customisation, boosters, etc, that are available to you is amazing. The Waves audio processing reall is the star of the show though, even if it is only available in Wireless mode. It’s a strong competitor to Atmos for Headphones and even the more expensive Super X-Fi amplifier; even more so when you factor in the price.
A fantastic microphone with sidetone monitoring, a noise gate, and full EQ is something that really stands out. However, there’s nothing about the Aero Wireless that doesn’t really grab your attention. Comfortable, powerful, customisable, and a truly fantastic software package too. I think I found the next headset I too will call my own.
