Final Thoughts

Price

The Turtle Beach Ear Force PX24 Multi-Format Gaming Headset is available from most major retailers, with prices around £69.99, or you can order it directly from Turtle Beach for the same price. This isn’t exactly cheap for a headset, but given the range of features on offer, it’s an absolute bargain.

Overview

The PX24 may very well be one of my all time favourite sub £100 headsets. While it doesn’t stand out in any particular way in terms of acoustic performance, it’s still got a great sound that puts a smile on your face, just no more so than a few other £70 gaming headsets. What really sets the PX24 apart from its comparable rivals is the extra features on offer. Multi-format headsets can often be a jumble of wires, or cut build quality to squeeze in the extra support without jacking up the price, but Turtle Beach solved this with the PowerAmp, which effectively creates a multiformat bridge while requiring the least amount of cables to connect to multiple devices. If you game on mobile, PC, consoles and more, you may need more than one headset, but the PX24 is an ideal all-in-one solution for multi-format gamers.

The PowerAmp is nothing innovative, Turtle Beach and other brands have been doing similar things for years. What I really like, however, is the compact size and simplicity of the device. It’s super easy to set up and operate and that’s a big win in my books. What really defines the PowerAmp is that it’s not limited to certain device, as it features a built-in rechargeable battery that is good for up to 30 hours of use. Connect it to your tablet, for example, and you can still use the sound EQ features that it provides and that’s a pretty cool feature right there, perhaps even the coolest feature of the PX 24 overall.

Build quality is great throughout, it’s a Turtle Beach headset, so the design, shape and build materials are pretty much in-line with many other headsets in their various ranges. The headset is very comfortable to wear and it’s incredibly lightweight, making it a great addition to your setup if you like to spend long hours gaming into the night.

As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got Virtual Surround processing, variable bass boost, variable microphone monitoring, super human hearing modes, an adjustable microphone and a competitive price.

Pros

  • Exceptional value for money
  • Vast range of features
  • Rechargable PowerAmp
  • Multi-Format support
  • Great audio performance
  • Powerful AMP/EQ/Surround processing
  • Easy to set up and use

Cons

  • Hard wired microphone, detachable would have been even better

“The Ear Force PX24 is not only one of the best value for money headsets on the market, it’s one of the best all-round headsets full stop! The innovations of the PowerAmp simply cannot be ignored and it’s great to see so many features supported over a wide range of devices.”
