Turtle Beach PX4 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

A Closer Look

The hub is small and light weight with rubber grips on the base to keep it firmly in place next to your console or TV. It’s got a Turtle Beach logo on the top and a big WiFi logo that kind of spoils the styling, it tells us it has WiFi on the box, we don’t need reminding every time we use it. The front has four LED indicators that indicated the various surround sound modes, codecs and device power. The right hand side features the only buttons on the device, these are the pair, surround angles and surround on off buttons.

Around the back we have a hard-wired USB connection, optical pass through ports and an analogue line-in port.

The headset features a slick black finish and while there is a lot of plastic here, all the surfaces have high quality look and feel to them. There is also some blue trim around the ear cups as well as in the headband and stitching that adds a nice touch of colour.

The right ear cup features a gloss black back panel with the PS4 and Turtle Beach logos on it, you’ll also find four control switches for volume, bluetooth and master mute.

The left ear cup features the microphone boom mount, the microphone comes pre-fitted but it is removable or it can be folded out of the way when not in use. Also on this side you will find three control switches, these are tone, limiter and the master power button for the headset.

On the lower edge of the right ear cup you will find a USB port that is used for charging the headset, while the right side features a microphone monitor volume dial, game/chat hook up port and game volume dial.

The top of the  headband is coated in a soft leather like material with a nice amount of padding and Turtle Beach pressed into it.

The ear cups feature thick but soft fabric and are designed to fit around and over your ears, providing a clean fit that should block out a lot of external noise and be comfortable over long gaming sessions.

The inside edge of the headband is nicely stitched and padded to provide a comfortable fit and it will also help prevent the headset from slipping.

The sides feature a simple slide mechanism to extend the size of the headset.

The microphone features a thick foam head that should reduce excess sound being picked up, and the boom is incredibly flexible so finding the perfect position should be very easy.

Overall the design looks fantastic, the build quality feels great and the blue highlights give it a cool look despite the somewhat understated overall design.
