Performance
Setting up the Stealth 500X is a very simple job, as all of the cables are very self-explanatory. The USB and TosLink cable hook up to your console, then it’s simply a case of hitting the pair button to have it up and running. Of course, if you want to use the 3.5mm cable on a mobile device, it’s as simple as plugging the included cable into the headset and into your device.
Wireless performance on the headset is exceptionally good. The sound quality is crystal clear and there’s absolutely no distortion whatsoever, no doubt thanks to the smart wireless technology that adapts the wireless channel for the best possible signal with no interference. On top of that, you’ve got a 15-hour battery that is sure to last those long gaming sessions; just remember it can take a couple of hours to fully recharge the headset.
There’s a lot of detail to the sound, something that is immediately apparent while gaming, watching movies or listening to music. The bass is nice and heavy without drowning out the rest of the range and there is subtle warmth to the sound that is very pleasing to listen to. The surround presets have a big impact on the sound overall, allowing you to boost things like footsteps, or to add virtual surround sound to your games and overall, the effect is very impressive, but you’ll want to have a play around with these settings to find which one best suits your own tastes and the media you’re playing.
The only thing I had issue with was the mixture of buttons on the headset, it can take a while to learn where they all are and they could be a little more intuitive; like those found on the Elite 800.
