How Much Does it Cost?
The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox One and Xbox Series X is available on Amazon now as a pre-order, with stock shipping on the 20th of September, so hardly a long wait! It’s priced at just £129.99, which for such a well equipped wireless headset is pretty decent. It’s not a bargain as such, but it’s still very good value for money.
Overview
Turtle Beach many many of my favourite headsets, and honestly, I think the Stealth 700 Gen 2 is one of their best yet! They’ve improved in every single aspect of the old Stealth 700 headset, and while that model is now 3+ years old, it’s also still a great headset in its own right.
Wireless
The wireless technology on this headset is great, albeit, most wireless tech is pretty great these days. It has a really good range on it, and I was able to go anywhere in my house and keep a good signal on both the Xbox and via Bluetooth surprisingly. The 1000 mAh battery is a good size too, offerings up to 20 hours of use. Plus, it’s USB-C recharging which is really quick and can be done while gaming, so win-win. It pairs like an Xbox controller too, so no need for a separate dongle. Being able to control settings on the fly from my phone is pretty neat too. I’ve had similar apps before and they were always terrible, but this one worked without a hitch.
Windows Sonic
For surround processing, the headset can use the Windows Sonic interface giving you 3D object-based audio, it works really well too. Virtual surround sound is remarkable these days. However, the headset does support the Dolby Atmos for Headphone application (which isn’t free), but I do prefer the sound on that app in general, so I suggest you try the free demo if you can.
Overall though, the stereo and surround imaging on this headset is incredible. Big sound, big bass, crystal clear treble and absolutely no distortion what so ever, even when you push the EQ.
Should I Buy One?
It’s the little details that make this headset worthy of your money and your time. The glasses friendly ear cup padding design, deep memory foam cushions, fantastic ergonomics systems, easy to use controls, Bluetooth and wireless functions, long battery life, USB-C charging, fantastic surround sound, and a powerful EQ system. The list just goes on. At £129.99, it’s a really solid investment for both this generation of consoles, the next-generation and PC.
