Turtle Beach XO Seven Pro Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts

Price

Price is the weak point for the XO Seven Pro, it’s a great headset, but it’ll make a few people put their wallets away when you realise you won’t get any change from £130. Of course, if you take your gaming seriously or play competitively, the retail price isn’t so much of an issue, but casual gamers will find they’re happy with the reduced features and performance of Turtle Beach headsets that are half the price of this one.

Overview

I’ve seen a fair few Turtle Beach headsets at eTeknix HQ and more often than not, I’ve been very impressed with their performance, build quality and design. Fortunately, for those of you reading this review because you are considering a purchase of this headset, or for the folks at Turtle Beach, this headset lives up to my high expectations of it. It’s a very good gaming headset and even better for those who play competitively, especially since it has that hot switch for Super Human Hearing mode.

I’m a big music fan and a I love my movies too, which is where the XO Seven falls a little short. I’d normally mark a headset down for not delivering the goods in these areas, but Turtle Beach is a gaming brand, the Xbox One is gaming console (most of the time) and this is a very focused pro gaming headset, so I’m not going to linger on that issue. If you want great headphones for music, get a dedicated set, it’s by far the best way to go. If you want a headset that’s going to cater to your growing thirst for high K/D ratios, help you clearly communicate with your party in team chat or help you hear the footsteps of your enemies, then put the XO Seven Pro on your shopping list.

One thing I will say is that if you’re only looking for a gaming headset to enjoy single player games, then you could get a lot of the performance of the XO Seven Pro, albeit with less of the pro gaming features, for a lot less money, such as the Turtle Beach XO Four.

Pros

  • Excellent microphone performance
  • Dedicated chat/game volume controls
  • Feature packed controller hub
  • Super Human Hearing mode
  • High-quality cables
  • Mobile support
  • Swappable back-plates
  • Detachable microphone
  • Lightweight and durable design

Cons

  • Not great for movies or music (although, this is a dedicated gaming headset)

“The Turtle Beach XO Seven has been crafted to meet the needs of competitive gamers and while it’ll certainly entertain those who game solo, the feature set is far better suited to competitive multi-player gaming. The XO Four is a great headset, but if you want that extra edge over your competitors, the XO Seven Pro has a lot to offer in return for the extra financial investment.”
