Update: Twitch has backtracked on this again within 24 hours, we have no bloody idea what the rules are now… Do you?!
Something that will come as a pretty big shock to well just about everybody is that Twitch has decided to do a makeover on its rules around explicit content. If you didn’t know this decision didn’t just come out of nowhere it came as a result of the previous rules being “confusing.”
These new rules come from the fact that the old rules were seen as difficult to understand and confusing, with Twitch saying to streamers “We have received consistent feedback from streamers… that it can be difficult to know how their content will be interpreted.”
It should also be noted that this is not going to let extremely graphical content on the site and a blanket ban on pornographic material remains in place. The rules aim to make clear what is and isn’t allowed.
The main thing that has changed is to sexually suggestive content, so this means creators can now stream videos highlighting their “breasts, buttocks or pelvic region” but can’t outright show nudity. Creators will now be able to draw adult content such as nude drawings and sculptures as long as it is deemed artistic.
Finally, the last main change is that this explicit content will no longer be shown on the front page so if you want to see it you have to specifically look for it and before you watch the content you will be given a warning of sexual content.
You can read about the rest of the Streamlined content here and please tell us what you think about these new rules in the comments below. Will this be the last time the rules are changed or will it go even further and will result in even more explicit content will be allowed?
