Twitch is a massive streaming platform for all types of gamers. Due to its popularity, many pirates can also use it to broadcast illegal feeds. However, so far the company has done a good job keeping that out on its platform. Streamer AJ Lester found an ingenious and hilarious way to circumvent this recently when he aired UFC 218. Specifically he was able to stream the featherweight championship between Max Holloway and Jose Aldo by pretending it was UFC 3. The overlay of the feed had him on the corner with headphones on and with controller on hand pretending to control the fighter.
One has to admit that the entire scenario is hilarious. Obviously UFC nor Twitch do not like it as it undermines their business and Lester’s Twitch channel is now gone. His YouTube channel is still up however, but it only has 8,995 subscribers which is a lot less than what his Twitch channel had when it went viral. The streamer actually deleted the illegal Twitch feed right after. But it appears that the streaming service does not tolerate his behaviour. As for the actual UFC 3 game, it is currently in open beta. It features some very impressive graphics and authentic commentary, maybe enough to fool Twitch moderators that it is the real thing. Check out footage from the beta below if it looks realistic enough to convince you.
UFC 3 will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 2, 2018.
