Twitter is great for sharing news and ideas quickly, but it’s not exactly the most appreciated social media platform when it comes to creating polls. Actually, regular Twitter users had to resort to ingenious methods in order to create simple polls, such as asking viewers to retweet in order to answer “yes” or to favorite in order to answer “no.” The good news is that Twitter actually has an embedded polling feature, and that feature will soon become available for all users. This means that everyone will soon be able to create their own polls from the Twitter-dot-com website or from Twitter’s iOS and Android apps. However, these polls will be limited to just 24 hours and two answers at first, which might not be enough for some of you.
The feature became available last month for certain verified and non-verified profiles that belong to celebrities or to the company’s employees. Even though everyone will soon be able to create their own polls straight from the “compose” box, we don’t know if Twitter clients such as TweetDeck will also support this new component right away. Regarding this upcoming change, product manager Todd Sherman has stated the following in a blog post:
“For poll creators, it’s a new way to engage with Twitter’s massive audience and understand exactly what people think. For those participating, it’s a very easy way to make your voice heard.”
